Sherri Fanger McInnes is a Scott & Whitehead partner. Ms. McInnes represents employers in all aspects of employment law, including discrimination, wrongful termination, and compliance matters. She regularly defends and responds to state and federal agency charges of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour violations. In addition, she advises management on employment law and human resources issues such as performance counseling, discipline and terminations, investigations, drafting employment agreements and employee handbooks, leaves of absence, and wage and hour issues.


For situations that have not evolved into litigation, Ms. McInnes offers expert, practical advice to employers on employment law and human resources issues, guiding employers on day-to-day compliance with California and federal employment laws and regulations. Ms. McInnes has drafted and reviewed hundreds of employee handbooks and policies, employment agreements, and compensation plans to ensure compliance with California and federal laws and regulations. She works diligently with clients to keep them up to date on the ever-changing California and federal laws impacting employment policy and practice.


Ms. McInnes frequently speaks to and trains groups of managers and employees on a wide-range of employment issues such as harassment prevention, ethics in the workplace, and compliance with California's employment laws.


Prior to joining Scott & Whitehead, Ms. McInnes worked for over ten years as an attorney in the Costa Mesa, California office of Paul Hastings LLP representing employers in all aspects of employment law.


Ms. McInnes received her B.A. degree in Government from the University of Redlands. She received her J.D. degree from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude. While there, she served as a senior editor on the Brigham Young University Law Review, won the Woody Deem Trial Advocacy Competition, and was a member of the invitation-only Trial Advocacy Team which won several national awards. Ms. McInnes externed for Judge John T. Noonan, Jr. on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco, California.


Ms. McInnes is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and currently resides in Tustin, California with her husband and children.
